PPL has decided to route new 500 kilovolt Transmission Lines in order to service NY & NJ. One of the proposed routes, "route C", goes through Moore, Lehigh & Bushkill Townships. EVERYONE should be paying attention to this routing of super power lines!!!
There is a meeting on Thursday, June 26th, at the Northampton County Center, from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Please try to be there!!!
This Route C would take it at the base of the Blue Mountains, disrupting scores of people, wildlife, etc., not to mention the watershed for this area. This would also increase taxes in the area, due to loss of revenue from these affected, perhaps land taken by eminent domain, areas. Moore township has passed and been funding Open Space for years. Now much of this space, which has been paid for by taxes, will be usurped by these power lines.
I have seen the destruction the clearing of these lines can do. In Jacobsburg State Park, they came through to "clear" the lines. They chopped trees down, let the trees fall in heaps, and left. There was NO clean up, etc. The whole thing is a twisted heap; a total mess.
Come to the meeting! Get answers, if possible.
Please note, all of our elected state officials are in Harrisburg, debating the budget. No one, in all likelihood, will be available to attend these meetings. That means it's the "little guy" against the corporate lawyers. We need to make a stand! Time for the squeaky wheel to be heard!
