This afternoon I found this message forwarded to me from the Lehigh Valley Association of REALTORS. Thought I would pass this along to everyone in the area.

Subject: PPL Rate Caps
Dear Friends:
For months, I've been fight to keep PPL from raising our electric rates by 50% and putting a lot of small businesses OUT OF BUSINESS. Now I'm asking for your help.
Please get the word out to as many of your friends and family as you possibly can to attend the PUC public hearing on PPL's rates next week (April 2nd) in Bethlehem.
The hearing is being held from 3 to 7 p.m. at NCC's Fowler Center on the southside. If people are too apathetic to show up, PPL will realize that they can do whatever they want and raise their rates as high as they want. But, if people really turn out and speak up, they will realize that they're in for a fight they're going to lose!
Please call my Bethlehem office at (610) 868-8667 to get more details about the hearing - and spread the word.
Sincerely,
Lisa
Let's all stick together and show up at the meeting and speak up to let PPL (Pennsylvania Power and Light) cannot do this to us. How much more money can we give to everyone else? Our pockets are already feeling empty.

Jason:
Hey, I don't mind going back to candles and no TV. It actually brings families closer together.
Thanks for flagging it for a Localism Feature.
Brigita: I also agree. Quakertown Borough already raised ours. I tried to vote the members of council who wanted to raise it out. I have to say though, we could have it worse. We could have PECO
Linda:
You're right, it could be worse. I feel that the companies have to start realizing that we only have so much money in our pockets. When will the rate hikes ever end??
Michael:
We have to take a stand for ourselves and let them know we will no longer take it from them.
BLR Guy:
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could just raise our salaries or commissions everytime we needed more money? That is exactly what these companies are doing. Everyone is raising their rates and the salaries are staying steady. What ever happened to the "cost of living" raises?
I thought their rates were capped for years...and now finally , in 2010 - they will raise the rates 38% over 3 years....
Hey, I'm not a lover of hugh increases in anything.... but I'm not a fan of capped prices (profits/ revenue) either.
PLEASE - let your voices be heard..... and I will join..... if I know the facts.
Rob:
We, as consumers, need to be heard. We can only take so much.
BTW, business is slow, but it's starting to show a little pick up. My 1 listing is showing more activity and the buyers will be starting to come out to look at places again. You still need to come out and visit Eddie.
