Flowers Add a Nice Touch To the Home

Oleander flowersFlowers in a home adds a nice touch.

If you are considering selling your home, holding open houses, or just want to liven up your home, consider adding fresh flower arrangements around the house.

You might say, "That's great, but cut flowers don't last long."

Here are a few tips to help your cut flowers last longer:

-  Cut your flowers in the early morning or late afternoon when they are least stressed.  Then get them into water as soon as possible.

-  Store them in a cool, dark place for a few hours before arranging them.

-  As you add flowers and greenery to your arrangementt, cut the stems at the bottom at an angle.  This way, when the flowers are standing upright, they can still get all the water they need.

Not only do flowers add a nice touch to the indoors, but also to the exterior of your home.  So plant some flowers around your home, too.  It will make the place cheery, inviting and attractive.  Remember, you only have one chance to first impressions, so make them count.

Brigita, interesting....I knew about cutting them on an angle at the bottom, but didn't know about the time of day to cut them....thanks!

I was spending quite some time re-working the garden yesterday. Didn't get finished so I see some more work to do in my crystal ball today...

Brigita,

Unfortunately, I am florally challenged. And worse yet, word has gotten out in the flower community. I keep trying though, but oh, the carnage....

Brigita, I agree with you, flowers add such a nice touch. I had no idea you should keep them in a cool dark place for a few hours; thanks for the tip!

It is so nice how they liven up a place not only visually, but also aromatically.

Maybe you should try the artificial kind.

An aspirin in the water also helps cut flowers last longer. I guess the flowers get a headache from being cut -- LOL.

Jim:

It hurts when you get cut.  That's what the aspirin is for.  LOL
