Tribute To A Unique War Veteran - Sergeant Reckless

Sergeant Reckless was a very unique and famous war Veteran.  The sergeant fought in the Korean War alongside the other marines in the platoon.  What made this serageant so unique and loveable?

No, it wasn't because she was a female.  It was because she was big and strong and had four legs and a tail.  Sergeant Reckless was a horse.

She was a Mongolian thoroughbred race horse in Korea, purchased by the Marines to help them fight the Korean War, who gave it her all to serve.  She hauled ammunition through enemy lines, dodging gunfire.  She even had been wounded in action.  Fellow Marines loved her and she was treated as one of the men.

After the war, she was transported to the US to retire as a decorated Veteran.  Anyone that came to visit her loved her and she loved them.

This Memorial Day, let's remember not only the service men and women, past and current, but also the horses, dogs and any other animals that served their country and made huge sacrifices.

We salute all Veterans, both two legged and four legged.  Thank you for your services.
