Input Needed From All Horse Owners

Here's an idea that I need input from horse owners, to see if it is feasible in this area.

Throughout the years, I have heard many horse owners complain about rising board fees for their horses.  Plus, commuting to their horses tends to be time consuming and inconvenient at times.  Many have stated that they would love to have their horses on their own property, but are unable to afford a large enough area to support horses.  Here is an idea that may make this possible.

Horse farmHow about a horse community?

Here is how it would work.  Homes are built on large lots (such as an acre or two), which would make it seem like you are still in the country.  Then in the center would be a barn and pastures all around.  If all in the community are willling to support it, an indoor arena can be included in the plans.

Each horse owner would then take care of their own horses and would pay for their horses' portion of hay, feed, utilities, etc.  All would share in maintaining the grounds.

If an owner should go away (for example on vacation, family visit, etc.), they can arrange with one of the other horse owners to look after their horses while they are gone in exchange for the same.

There are still some bugs I haven't worked out yet, but this is the basic idea.  The horse owner owns a home and is able to have their horse on the same property without the inconvenience of commuting to their horse each day.  Walk out the door anytime to see your horse.

Plus, if your children are involved in horses, you don't have to constantly drive them to the barn.  They are right there where you can keep an eye on them.  And, they learn responsibility.

What is everyone's opinion on this idea?  I would love to hear from you.  If many people are willing to buy into this, I can continue checking into this further and possibly making it work.  If there is no interest, well, it just will not happen.

So let me hear from you either way!
